South Melbourne Life Saving Club Patrols 


SMLSC conducts volunteer patrols along the Albert Park beach on weekends and public holidays from the last weekend in November to Easter Monday.  Our aim is to to provide a safe and enjoyable beach experience for everyone

The members who make up the patrols must all hold at least a Bronze Medallion and Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue), (or Surf Rescue Certificate for 13-14 year olds), but most also have further awards such as Advanced Resuscitation, IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Driver and IRB Crew. 

Each patrol is lead by a Patrol Captain who has been selected for outstanding performance, commitment and leadership ability.

Patrol Teams are comprised of as a minimum:
   Patrol Captain
   Vice Patrol Captain
   IRB Driver
   IRB Crew
   Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate holder
   Basic Beach Management Award holder
